Leolyn and Illoris
Think it’s bc i drew this in an awkward position/angle while on a ferry that this and previous post was hard to draw, anatomy and perspective here is kinda wonky but i just made all of this up on the go and had no refs so happy with that.
So I have this one story that was high-key inspired by a toyline thing ? called Bayala, some of the names and stuff is the same but it’s not like it’s a fandom work i do think my ocs are very different from the inspirations, dont really know anything abt this franchise just saw the toys in a schleich catalogue thing (i collected the horses and other animals as a tween) but the story has nothing to do with that stuff just that they’re fairies and some names are the same
So I ended up drawing Leolyn and his mum, Illoris, these are some of the names that were straight up taken from that and they were also a mother and child, I’ve posted art of Leolyn here before

(he is a baby in the first story i wrote where his mum and him is just in the background, never finished and ended up doing like a sequel thing where he is more grown and the protagonist instead of Arabella that was in the first (and that name was taken from a random shoe box in our house lol)
I originally wrote the first stuff in like 2010
This is a scene from the sequel that maybe I wrote in 2014? Scene before a time skip, most of the story with Leolyn as the protagonist happen when he’s in his teens
They’re supposed to eat something I called flower tart
Also the inspiration for this one mirror (not actually the one I drew here but wanted to add something in the background and wanted to put some "easter egg" stuff) was inspired from one of the movies that traumatised me as a kid lol "Lille frk Norge" or Beast of beauty as it’s apparently called in English, can’t find the trailer but found this and it’s one of the scenes I used to quote all the time xD https://www.tiktok.com/@minnernorge/video/7524773798655134998
So there’s this mirror in a later scene of my story that shows his other self, he has like a curse or two different appearances; I called it The mirror of truth, it doesn’t usually show up in every mirror just wanted to draw it here – anyway the inspiration came from that very scary movie I watched a lot as a kid and the scene with the mirror was some of the scariest; I kinda loved this movie and did watch it a lot and made my friends watch it too, but it still scared me
but fr this is one of the scariest norwegian family films i know of but it’s also so nostalgic to me. In the movie the mirror is called the Mirror of souls tho or Sjelens speil, but yeah some of my inspiration too.

Rewatched that movie this year actually with my brother who was too young to remember it, a lot of stuff that went kinda over my head as a kid like the manipulation and child exploitation and abuse is more obvious to me now or how they handle those topics it’s actually so well written i could always tell the stepmother was bad (and scary) but there’s like so many things that went into it i didnt think about as a kid – and the acting is pretty good even the children
