New Year’s Resolutions Challenge

This is a very open-ended challenge with no prompt for the subject matter itself - instead I’m challenging you to consider an aspect of your art you would like to improve in 2024. Personally I want to exaggerate my shapes more and improve my colours, but your goal could be anything, as vague or specific as you like. Maybe you want to find your style, figure out how to shorthand clothing folds, beat the same-face syndrome allegations, or just draw that blorbo from your shows more. Then, having set your goal, take your first baby step towards it and submit the results to this challenge! Whether that’s in the form of a fully rendered illustration or a page of sketches, whether you think you achieved your goal or not, it doesn’t matter! This is a no-pressure no-judgement space for trying your best. The point is that you’ve taken the first step towards improvement, and maybe throughout the year you’ll take another baby step, and maybe another, and by the end of the year you can look back and see how far you’ve come. Rules: - Art must be your own. No plagiarism, no AI. You can show your references though, just remember to credit! - Artistic nudity and mild gore is allowed, use filters if appropriate. - Submit as many entries as you like, and feel free to come back later in the year with your improvements :)

Pose practiceWhile my main 2024 art resolution is to do more backgrounds, another resolution is to simply draw more interesting poses and more unique character designs and clothes, as my characters/art feels much too static and it's time to bring more life to them. I'm starting slow, and gonna try my hand at more perspective eventually. But yes, baby steps ;w;
I'm also hoping to find a lineart style I will ACTUALLY stick with asdfghj

I had a pose ref for this and, tho my result still feels quite static, I'm pleased enough to post it. I already want to redesign her tho lmao I like the hijab, jewelry and the shawl, but I gotta do something about the bottom half, as it looks quite dull... ;v;

Anyway, this lady here is named Masika :3 I've been wanting to create a calico cat character for awhile tbh haha, and I'll be working more on her!Jan 9, 2024

In all seriousness, wow! I like her design and how fluid the pose came out! I think you are giving so much movement to your characters
