Alternate character design 
I kept looking at my botanist character (see previous posts) and wondered if I could imagine it differently while still trying to match the aesthetic I had in mind.
They’re a botanist but my story has them mostly studying mythical creatures like mermaids that are part plant so water is a big part of her world.
I’m really new to creating characters so I’m not sure what to point out but I’d really appreciate any critique!

I’m new to creating characters too, but I like your art style! You seem like the type of artist that already has a story pinpointed for the character, so I’d probably focus on giving the character clothes that would suit their skills/personality as well as a natural lighting of a setting they’d usually be in. For example, if I had a character who loves to play video games I would make them a geek by heart, give them some (poorly made) cosplay outfit and have them with rim lighting from an arcade spot they’re always hanging out at.

•Such a cute character!! I really love the overall design and color palette, especially the hair is a real eye-catcher! The only thing standing out is the slight green-tint of the skin wich could be off-putting, clashing with the overall palette. A slightly more reddish or purplish hue could work really well instead!
