Watercolor Ground | wip | An update on my last text post! But first some context: I’m painting on a large canvas (36in x 48in) and I gesso’d it and put two coats of watercolor ground so the canvas would accept the medium. You can tell even in the picture that the watercolor ground is uneven because there are horizontal lines going across. I wanted to sand it, but it doesn’t rlly hinder my painting it’s smooth even tho it’s textured, but its still frustrating that it’s there. I decided it may be better not to sand it in case I mess up the canvas. :’)
It’s still a work in progress so it will be given more detail. The watercolor ground is rlly hard to work with but the process is fun. I think going into the medium knowing it’s different helps work through the challenges it presents.
I’d love to have opinions on this painting so far! This is a project I’m doing for a college final, but I’m also making a sculpture of a whale on paper/cardboard that will hang in front of this large painting. The whale will also be painted with watercolor Apr 9, 2024
