Andean Griffin
Andean griffins inhabit the mountain areas of Argentina and Chile, as well as a wide region of Patagonian lowlands. They hibernate during winter, and wake up in spring when the snow melts. But this is an endangered creature, threatened by mining activities and overall climate change. Since there are so few specimens, and their encounters so rare, most females lay an only egg during their whole life, two maximum.For this ink and color pencils drawing I merged two typical and wide spread South American animals: the cougar or mountain lion (Puma concolor) and the southern caracara (Caracara plancus).
