Do you prefer to use references or draw from intuition?

If I want to make something I'm proud of, I'll look for reference. Very rarely do I draw from intuition and not feel like it could've been better if I took the time to do research into it

•Using references is less fun for me so I don’t very often but it is helpful, especially with furniture and objects. But sometimes I’ll have an anatomy practice day where I do practice sketches from reference, but most of my finished art is all off intuition/memory I guess!
•
References. Not because I don't understand anatomy (I do), but because for some reason, I just cannot draw from my mind, so even basic poses are difficult for me despite knowing where everything goes and stuff.
•
For wildlife art, references all the way, I even got myself a moderately fancy camera so I could start taking my own reference pics.
For humans, I have a moderate grasp on anatomy from memory but still love to grab references for dynamic poses/working on details.
I do love just sketching loosely from memory and seeing what comes out- it’s often good ideas that need refining (with references). Also shitpost art is funnier if it’s super graphic and exaggerated.

Definitely draw from references, my art usually looks like shit if I try to draw without reference lol
•
for the anatomy i mainly jst go with intuition but for everything else (background, clothing style, composition, lighting) i prefer using references
•
I never draw from reference... And it shows
But I really have a lot of fun drawing from imagination and the search for references is a high risk of getting me lost in distraction or in overlearning about minor details of what I was researching. Sooner or later I will learn how to do it properly ahahah

When I'm drawing something new or if I'm struggling then I'll use a reference. If it's just for fun, then most definitely intuition.
•
i hate using references especially for poses and anatomy bc i can never translate it in my style so i either end up drawling way too realistic or i fail at stylizing and it just looks bad and wrong

•
intuition 100%
I’m too lazy to look up a reference but when I do I generally fail

I mostly draw from intuition bc I’m too lazy to find a reference, but I really need to start using references or getting better at everything?

•
•Usually from intuition, because I’ve gotten mostly used to the human body at this point
•
Both, it quite depends if I got ideas or not. Even tho when I use references I always end up to not consider them that much
