This is a doodle of lyssa, the goddess of madness, fury, mad rage, and rabies. In authoritarian, she resides over a subsection of Tartarus, usually called her lair or domain. She often punishes animalistic crimes, for example, cannibalism and rape.
She was born of Nyx and Ouranos, and is sort of a foil to The Fates. So to explain it simply. Ananke, one of the beings born of khaos, ruler of inevitability, consummated the marriage of Nyx with Erebus, and Ouranos with Gaia. This was not to the wishes of any of these gods. Ouranos and Nyx were already lovers, and continued to be in secret after the marriages. The fates were born from their relations, though most gods believe them to just be born from Nyx alone. Ananke, who took this as an attack on her decision making, somewhat swayed the decision of Kronos to assault Ouranos in the way he did (cut off his bawls). The blood of this act is what formed Lyssa. The blood, in a way, formed itself in Nyx’s womb. I won’t explain further. The fates, born of the love of two gods in spite of Anankes desires, and Lyssa, born of Anankes punishment of that love.
The fates are foils of Ananke in many ways, often allowing her paths for mortals and gods to play out. Despite the fact that they track the lives of mortals, they also effect the lives and paths of gods, and much of their time is spent in interaction or discussion with them. Lyssa, however, has no cares for the gods. Her point in life is to punish mortals, as a way to punish Ananke. Lyssa has a couple of creations that go against the path that Ananke carved out. Two things that I have represent her are Asian Lady Beetles (called Lyssa’s lady beetles in the story) and rosary peas. The rosary peas are one of the most toxic plants on the planet, simply one pea pod could kill an adult. They are also invasive in many places, and very annoying to get rid of. Asian Lady beetles are also invasive in many places, and are made to look very similar to lady bugs, but are much more aggressive, and are the ones that usually swarm in your homes. These little things are made by Lyssa to encumber people once more, and we’re made completely outside of the line of any fate. Rabies is very similar, it’s something that not even the fates can see the future and outcomes of on people’s strings of life’s. Though of course all death must be allowed by Thanatos, the source of the death is outside of the fates or Anankes commands.
Lyssa is represented by the colour red, the blood of man, while the fates are represented by the colour of yellow and gold, the blood of the gods. To further get their purposes across. It’s why Lyssa was not fond of inflicting madness on Heracles by request of Hera. This is not her battle, this was the petty battle the gods, which she has no part in.
Many assume she’s confined to her domain, she is isn’t, she just doesn’t have the desire to leave very often. She’s also the size of a small titaness.
Lyssa is very soft spoken, calm, and often soothing, sometimes coming off as unsettling considering her role. Lyssa, like Thanatos, is intended to be very beautiful. Though inhuman in many ways, lyssa being pure white with black, flowing hair, and Thanatos’ skin looking and feeling like a statue, including being cold to the touch; they are meant to represent the peace and often beauty of death in many manners. Rabies is a horrible, painful, terrifying illness. It’s one of the worst ways to die in your final moments. In many ways, death is mercy and beauty when you are suffering with it.
(just as a psa, if you see an animal with rabies, please kill it if your able and contact fish and wildlife or related wildlife managements for your country, those animals are suffering, and they will only suffer more as they get closer to death. There is no saving then, please be kind to them and shoot them or contact someone who is able to kill them. It’s the most mercy to can give them. Contact wildlife management so they are aware of rabies being spread in the area, as they may be able to track and contain the illness. Again, you can not save an animal with rabies, they will die no matter what, so please show them kindness and kill them the least painful way possible. And also get your pets the rabies vaccine)
