. . . The woman chained to the woods?
“You do know about her, don’t you?...” The young man leans forward in his seat, his eyes filled with wonder, and his dinner of spaghetti untouched.
The teen looks across the table at the face of the older man, who has remained well silent with a solemn face.
“Sir...?” He questioned with a tone of slight worry now in his voice...
I remember her... The one in white, who’s calling is unheard and silent; but never gone unaware...
I still recall her clear as day. Her appearance so out of place, like an illusion; yet something so real its almost impossible to forget...
No...
She is real. More than real, a reality... She is a reality that is pushed aside as some children’s story to hide the bone-chilling truth... To selfishly make light of the situation, so no one needs to live in fear... That is the illusion of it all.
“Are you okay, sir?...” The voice calls out to me again... And I finally stare into his curious eyes. I can tell he doesn’t take this seriously.
What could I possibly tell this boy?... How will my words ever reach out to him in stressed importance? How bored could he be to go out looking for trouble such as this... I mustn’t let him leave this house with such a mindset... Not this time.
Never will I let him make such a mistake.
