The Leviathan from Neptune that Swallowed Pinoccio

Did you know there once was a living being called #Leviathan? But it was not like you are surely picturing it. Livyatan melvillei was a #fossil #cetacean, a #seamammal related to sperm #whales. Its genus name is inspired on the biblical #sea #monster, while its species name honors Herman Melville, author of #MobyDick. When I told that to a friend of mine, who asked me to do this #drawing, she said "it was the one wich ate Pinocho". So here I introduce to you, commisioned as a #tattoodesign, "The Leviathan from #Neptune that swallowed Pinoccio".

¿Sabían que existió un ser vivo llamado #Leviatan? Pero no era como seguramente se lo imaginan. Livyatan melvillei fue un cetáceo fósil, un mamífero marino pariente de los cachalotes. Su epíteto genérico (primer palabra del nombre científico) fue inspirado por el monstruo bíblico, mientras que su epíteto específico hace referencia a Herman Melville, el autor de Moby-Dick. La amiga que me encargó este diseño, al contarle eso, dijo "es la que se comió a Pinocho". Así que aquí les presento, a pedido para un #tattoo, "el Leviatán de Neptuno que se tragó a Pinocho".
