2022 Art SummaryLmao I forgot to name or label them . The artworks start from left to right, horizontally, so follow the pictures the way you would read.
Surprisingly, I managed to make something, even doodles, for every month. And I drew a lot of children.
I chose these works because they represent something I attempted and the other works don't speak to me now.
Jan: I didn't upload this dude. He was a concept for my retelling of Snow Queen but I quickly scrapped his design.
Feb: same concept. Also eventually abandoned this red haired design. I really don't know where the story is heading. The characters are older in the story I have in my head.
March: By this time I was tired of the retelling. I get bored easily. I really like this chaotic piece. I made it after watching an artist make abstract art.
April: a study
May: amarismoon DTIYS entry
June: this illustration was made for an adopt I was selling. It didn't work out but oh well Β―β \β β (β γβ )β β /β Β― I like her design, especially the colors and head piece, so now I get to keep her.
July: artfight was so hectic yet fun. My favorite piece was actually Rex (the robot/Ninacti0n's oc) but I felt this pixelated piece represented my growth better since I had to design the humanoid form, work with new limitations and I discovered the gradient map.
August: burn out? I didn't make a single digital piece but I doodled the characters I got from artfight in a different style.
September: cellar spider dude
October: another DTIYS entry
November: yet another DTIYS entry
December: I chose this illustration because it looked aesthetically pleasing in this grid. One of the comic pages might have summarized my growth better but it's somewhat fitting that I went back to my painterly style at the end of trying different things.
Take away notes: I feel like I grew laterally/horizontally this year because I tried different things as opposed to vertical growth where someone becomes good at one thing. I'm okay with that. Each style made me reflect on my preexisting knowledge of forms, colors, values.
I hope the coming year is much kinder to everyone. If not, at least there's always Artfol To a better year and goodbye to this one. Dec 26, 2022
I love that in your reflection you concluded that you grew a lot laterally, because that is also growth, just as much as vertically, and it's really awesome to be able to see that in this compilation.
