One of my first ring prototypes (out of wax)I thought you might be interested in seeing what jewellery wax looks like. Btw the four rings are one of the first models I created this year.
The wax comes in green, blue, and many other colours, and each colour represents a different melting temperature and hardness. It’s used to create a model of the piece one wants to make. In this case, it rings - but it can be charms, earrings or even little sculptures. I used heat and tools to slowly build up my design in wax but others also carve their designs.
After the final touches, this exact wax model can be turned one to one into silver or gold using the lost wax casting method.
The shortest explanation is probably that you use the wax model to create a negative that later gets replaced by metal. After casting, the piece still needs filing and polishing before it becomes an actual pretty and shinny ring! I think that’s pretty cool process.
Anyway which design would you wear? I think I am a fan of 1 & 3 at the moment.Dec 15, 2025
