@NERV's post on Artfol
Guys, be on the lookout for a user named @/mr_gizmo. They posted a picture and I complemented it for looking great, but I didn't know it was AI-generated.
They "drew" one of my characters (Dahlia) and sent it to me. It was almost an exact copy of the one where she's using her powers— but made "cuter". I noticed there were no hands, the waist was off, and there was a hint of the green glow on her eyes, but it was past her hair. The eyes had nothing. I asked them if this was AI-generated and they ignored the question. They offered to fix it, but when they re-sent it, the hands were off. But also the background, her proportions and parts of her dress changed. I showed it to friends just to be sure and it was AI-generated. I blocked and reported them, but I am honestly worried they might do this to other people here.
I feel a little dumb for not noticing it in the first place, but I didn't want to randomly accuse someone of using AI just because it looked really good and perfect on first impression. If it looks too good to be true, it's because it probably isn't true and it honestly scares me.Jul 27, 2023

Oh shit, that’s scary o_o I am so sorry to hear you had to deal with that. It legit really sucks though that AI art has ruined everyone’s trust in art. Every time I see a really good drawing, I always have to check the tags to see if it’s AI because “there’s no way someone can draw like that” (when lots of talented people can)! It feels terrible that it’s come to that. I hope the person who did this to you comes to reflect on themselves and come clean or at least is able to prove it’s not AI. That is horrible

•Yeah you're not alone to be scared. But I think if we get scared we will just give more power to those AI art guys. Most of them are butt hurt because they don't have the patience to create something. If art is an expression of human experience ,whatever AI does is not art .

•l think they blocked me
Oof
so l Definitely don't have a chase on reporting and blocking them
so hopefully this user gets banned

•From what they've uploaded, I can't see many tells of AI. A strand of hair in 1 image doesn't make a lot of sense, and I don't think a human would draw it.
But I definitely don't think they drew what they uploaded. The jpeg compression on every upload is AWFUL. some artists will put some compression on their artwork when they upload it, but it's usually very subtle. If you can SEE the crunchiness, it's normally because the person uploading it... Doesn't understand image compression, and doesn't realise it looks BAD with that much compression. I usually take the view that anyone uploading something of a high skill level that's visibly compressed.... Is either uploading stolen work, or AI generated work. If you're that good with digital art, you ain't compressing your artwork THAT badly.
I just don't think that alone is enough to prove they're being dodgy. And the jpeg compression actually makes it difficult to spot the more obvious AI tells
