I don't trust the government or news outlets anymore. "The protest was stopped because of sedition/antisemitic chants" show me the chants. What exactly were they? Were they "free palestine"? "Occupation is a crime"? "Ceasefire now"? Is that antisemitic? Or do you label anything that goes against your politics as antisemitic now? They always talk about hateful chants at the protests but never directly quote them. If there are antisemitic chants that's of course inappropriate, but the more peaceful protests I see get attacked by the police the less I believe them they were actually antisemitic or violent.May 8, 2024

I would not be surprised if the "anti semitic chants" were not actually antisemitic and it just being pro Palestine chanting. I feel like Ever since October 7th, the word “antisemitic” has been losing its meaning the more and more it’s been misused. I’m not saying that there hasn’t been a rise in antisemitism but the majority of the time I’ve seen something say that something/ someone is antisemitic, it’s because they are either pro Palestine or rightfully criticizing the country of Israel treatment to Palestinians. I feel like this type of “antisemitism” distracts from actually anti semitic things that real Jewish people are facing.
I stopped watching all the major news outlets over 5 years ago. I even ignore their articles. Nothing but dangerous misinformation and garbage propaganda are put out by them now.
The news is a confection. It's made to be consumed, not to inform, so the news they deliver is often designed to make you want to consume more out of anxiety, outrage, or voyeurism. I wish it was different but that's how it is.
