@Tiane's post on Artfol
I started to do some research on how art theft or copyright violations get handled/ how you can report stuff like that on different platforms and .. wow I am shocked... (some don’t Even have an option to report)
Like on Artfol it’s really easy they kept it simple and effective meanwhile on Instagram or Facebook you don’t Even find a Formular for it just explanations for what copyrights are and then you kinda have to search for the formular like dafuq !? Not surprising though because a huge part of Instagram are just bots or reposter accs that write bullshit like „ DM for credits „
TikTok for example at least has a proper formular! Though I can’t tell if it how fast they take actions.
It start to be really problematic and complicated when it comes to companies like Amazon or BubbleHouse.. like some creators spent MONTHS to bring their designs down and still will never see the profit that others made of their original content .. like that’s so wrong...

Part of the thing with Facebook is in their terms of service they say if something is uploaded it belongs to Facebook. So if someone steals your art on there, per the terms of service you agreed to the art/post/photo/whatever is no longer yours and so you can make no claim to its copyright. It becomes yours again once you take your post down, or something. It’s really sketchy and why I don’t use Facebook for art.

This is why I wish people won't judge the art community when an art thief appears and it looks like mob/jungle justice. Many places simply don't have a structure that will come out and say, yes this was theft and we have punished the person. The art community is forced to regulate itself.

I also find it pretty annoying that artworks are used as webnovel covers with a "credit to the original artist" below …
-.-

•This is why i rarely liked any art posts on Instagram. I only do it when i know for sure it's the artist, and as for the fanarts that appears in my explore page... Yeah, no.

Yes this!!! I hate the "dm for credit" stuff. What tf are the chances that the creator's actually going to see that. And don't even get me started on places like bubblehouse oof
