Video Tutorial: https://youtu.be/oVKuW_-G7PEHey - I really hope my first tutorial is easy to understand… Learning how the new editing program was quite hard to get used to - and I am still finding my editing style - enjoy!
Credit to: @bubblellop & @uxue for designing & drawing my persona! Absouletly love it and they will make more in the following weeks. <3
If you don’t want/ can’t watch the video, here is my transcript:

Hey my little frog pals!

TRASHY here. This is "HOW TO ARTFOL,
this time I will show you: how to successfully host an art challenge on Artfol - inclusive my personal tips.
In the community section asked: “What keeps you from hosting challenges”, and your comments were uh surprising? (I only wanted to tease you) though it appears that a few are:

- lazy, uncreative, afraid that no one will join, (too busy), already disappointed for not getting much attention (and that’s all valid!)
So- I'm the challenge queen here, due to that, I feel qualified enough to guide you through this

____
Before we start brainstorming/ coming up with ideas, I'd want to mention a few points that I think are important to know:
1. Create challenges that don't require you to actively respond to people in order for them to participate (especially if you know you are a busy person!) - keep it simple!
2. Create challenges that you would participate in yourself!
What do I mean by that?
I only designs challenges in which I intent to participate/join myself, so you rarely would see an DTIYS from me! And in chase I feel art-block or uncreative for any reason, I just have to participate in one of the challenges. The topics go from: ridiculous, adorable to “let’s improve some skills” they are variety of directions you could decide on!

. A nice side effect of these more inspirational challenges is that you don’t need to necessarily select a winner or offer a prize - (since this makes more sense if you do a DTIYS or something similar that benefits/ is meant for you - where you want to provide a reward to lure artists to participate)
And, again keep things simple!
the goal is to inspire rather than overwhelm and stress anyone.
Got it? Great!
_____
To host a challenge we need a CONCEPT
1. After you brainstormed and selected the final idea think of a rough outline; in my chase I read a text post of @indra- and I loved the concept so I asked them if it’s fine to turn it into a challenge!
But because not everyone might be an ice cream admirer like me, I modified the concept a little and now it’s: TURN YOUR FAV SNACK INTO A DRAGON - challenge
2. The next step is to make a CLEAR COVER (and for this you don’t need to actually draw something complicated) ⇒ the best is to write the essential info into the cover and add fitting visual. If it looks too much like a regular post your challenge might seem like an accidental post in the wrong section (especially because it actually happens sometimes). The more obvious it is the less people will misunderstand your intentions.
3. Also my drawing/ visual for the cover is not the final snack dragon of mine, it’s just there to share the idea :) I will make my own ice cream inspired dragon another time!
After you did all of that create a post, add a caption, explain the concept and criteria.
The final step is to turn on challenge mode and adjust the settings. I didn’t require winners or a deadline for my challenge - but if you do you can extend the time limit up to 999 days and choose up to 5 winners.
_____
Bonus tip for brainstorming challenge ideas:Choose a topic you are interested in and is as oddly specific as possible! It will make people curious & is more outstanding?
Like it can be specifically about:
- body parts, clothes
- emotions
- certain aesthetics
- details of nature
- social interactions (like one OC invites others to do something)
- poses & environments
- personal things/ dreams/ goals/ .
- all artist inclusive or exclusive like only for (crafters, photographers, writers,.. and so on)
I hope this motivates some to host challenges? And I am looking forward to to the literally sweet & salty dragons!

OH & please tag me if you host one! Because I will attempt to participate in as many challenges as possible. So that at very least, you'll have one participant, and isn't that motivation enough?! :PApr 17, 2022#tutorial
