I feel the need to break something every time I see someone tell somebody else with confidence that Dachshund is pronounced "dash-hound". Go stand in the corner of shame please

In case anybody cares. It's German for "badger dog" because they were bred to hunt animals like badgers and foxes, being able to enter their burrows with their slim, short bodies.
I know the chsh looks confusing but remember it's Dachs-hund. When you have a "ch" in front of an "s" in German, it's pronounced as a "k", so the whole "chs" sounds like an "x". That out of the way, now to the vowels. The "a" is an "ah" sound similar to the one in "far" or "duck", and "u" is pronounced as "oo" like in "book". So with all of this we get "DAHX-hoond" (stress on first syllable). Or you simply say wiener. Objectively funnier word anyway
