Question for pixel artists.
What's your starting canvas size for detailed/landscape pieces?
I watched a YouTube tutorial for Krita and the two canvas sizes mentioned were: 32 by 32 px and 64 by 64 px. Those sound really small and sure enough some people advised 2000 by 5000 px for large works.
Should I start out small then resize the canvas to add details?

Don't know how Krita works so forgive me if the scales for pixel ratios are different- I use Aseprite
My pieces are usually 200x200 pixel canvases (if u need a reference) and I found the maximum if you want to still have that pixelated style is 600x600 pixels or 800 if you really want to push the bounds
Would recommend starting large AND THEN resize...

•Don't start small. Start big and scale it down later for uploading on other platforms. Generally anything around 2000x2000 should work, but if you go bigger it could cause lag if your pc isn't very good. 1000x1000 also works, but something lower than that tends to look blurry. Landscape pieces usually have a wider image ratio, like 2000x1400 for example. So just stay in a 1000-2000px range and you should be good.
