@Tiane's post on Artfol
Sometimes I am really shocked about the salty text posts about Artfol. And everytime I look deeper into the commenter's profile it shows that they clearly did not try to understand Artfo or it's philosophy... Let me break this down:
(I just want to clarify that this below is not about newbies/ people who still learn how the app works or are just here vibing :D -this is specially for those who complain, spam post, don't follow anybody, just complain, spread negativity on the app for no reason..) - if you just don't have much time or are shy or sth like thisdoes not appl to you xD
"It's harder to get attention/ gain followers on Artfol than on Instagram."No it's not, the Artfol community usually gives back what you put in.
If you never reshare posts of other artists, ever answer questions never give critique, never host or submit to a challenge or just never interact SOMEHOW there won't come much back. (And 4f4, l4l doesn't work onhere either... What works is sinceres for sinceres!)

Furthermore> Artfol isn't even 2 years old?!
Instagram on the other hand is almost 22 (and we see how lil they developed over time , like they just take advantage of the creatives on their platform
) so, yeah it's a BABY so ofc there are less users on here.
"The algorithm doesn't help me.. I get less likes/ interactions"If you feel like it's about the algorithm ...
well there is non = everyone has the same chances here...

Only the "what's hot" & the challenge section has a lil algorithm thingy. And that's also is chronical - so everyday other artists have the chance to be there and it's not hard or impossible to land there. Like sometimes you see posts with just a handful likes -
"I post so much but nobody cares."Well maybe post less and write/ interact more? Or host a challenge for others and not just for yourself or your OC?
Artfol is a bit the opposite of Instagram when it comes to this > quality over quantity (regarding the context)... Community over well idk a single influencers? Interaction over the like amount.
Here on Artfol we LOVE to read stuff about the artpiece, your work on or abt yourself... the more we know the more we will and can respond to something.
And it doesn't need to be a 2 meter paragraph but if you just use a title it's harder to comment more since there is not additional info - often kinda spam posts..
at least I tend to interact less with posts that only have a title since I personally want to actually make individual responses and not just "Cute!, Nice art." etc.

one more: if you post a DTIYS or something inspired by a specific source PLEASE link it
Artfol let's you put link everywhere for a reason. So give credits where credits are needed or deserved. If you feel attacked - I am not sorry xD
How do you feel about this? Am I too dramatic

I think I know the reason for this post
Anyway, it seems like some people join artfol with the very wrong mindset. They want the 'artist fame' instagram won't let them have and I feel sad for those people who can't enjoy the chill and positive vibe of artfoll.
As always well put together, @trashy_jpg

i agreeeee! i like how well you explained the vibe of artfol. im still adjusting to the app so its good to know more about it :))

NOTE: This is not a shit post about newbies or people who still learn everything
Also I am not trying to implement that you have to do all these things! This is really about the users that spread negativity over a long period of time even though they got these explanations already or got invited to learn :)

This, all this! So true! Artfol needs some effort from us and I know, it can be difficult because it is NOT like the rest of the platforms and coming up with something to chat about or go trough the community tab takes time and effort, but for growing, it is definitely needed.
β’
β’Youβre not being dramatic at all!
I just explained to a user yesterday why Artfol may seem βinactiveβ because they thought no one was on the app for some reason!
A lot of the things you listed are things that I told them!

β’Youre not dramatic. What u said is true.
Artfol for me (like I said before) is a place that don't work with insights or numbers. You are here to share your art, interact with other users, share a text post about something and OF COURSE help other users.
Artfol is a young piece of pixel, it's not a full PNG image yet. But it have a lot of amazing stuff that makes me think about how, in such less time, Artfol grown up so much. It's unbelievable.
If the new users are entering here still thinkin' about numbers and insights... My Lord. I'm sorry for them.
If you want to grow up, then do things that will attract people's interest. The algorithm is YOU, the insights is YOU too.
Challenges, text posts, re-shares, opinions...
Come on, bro.

β’I love artfol because everybody is so much interested in the details and the meaning, and the work behind every piece. They give advices and talk about their personal experience and I just live for it

β’
β’Artfol definitely take a while to adjust to and YES it can be disappointing to sign up with the promise of βthereβs no algorithm you have an equal chanceβ etc. and then get no engagement. Because then it feels like your art just sucks and you canβt even blame the algorithm. But if you give it some time and genuine engagement it becomes a lot more fulfilling :) Itβs more of a community, and personally I feel more comfortable interacting here than on IG because itβs so reciprocated.
β’
oh and likes, saves and follows are good for algorithms, yes.. but what's good for you? is it being on discover page or seeing people really like what you create?
β’
THIS! i hated being on ig, because no one really cares about artists, there's almost no human interaction, just numbers of likes and followers. and artfol is opposite even if ig and artfol look alike at the first glance.
i love this community (γ£ΛΠ·(Λβ£Λ )

Yess!! However sometimes when Iβm in a rush to do something so- when i do decide to comment on someones post i would probably write βcuteβ and βcoolβ xD

β’You know what, PREACH!! What you said, I 100% agree. I think rather than the main purpose of artfol, which is promoting quality content as well as active engagement (like a give and receive kind of relationship, as you have said), some artists just view this app as simply "another art community to farm many likes and followers."
Like, no.
I know that those things makes you feel like you've really succeeded as an artist, but here, it's more about what really makes an art community as it is-- effort, uniqueness, relatability, depth, art. Plus, the app is pretty new and is open for more improvements. If you even compare the number of people here compared to other apps like IG, well of course the gap is impeccable. However, what makes artfol special is that it is filled of artists! Whereas on the other apps, it's quite the mix of everything (there's even freakin' bots and repost accs, for god's sake.)
But yeah, overall I feel the sentiment. It may not be now, but later on, when the community gets more bigger and the app gets better, I think it's going to thrive more than ever!

β’Nah man youβre right

I donβt completely blame those people tho, theyβre just probably not used to it but I just donβt understand why they canβt just keep it in and not post about it here
But honestly, Iβm really proud of and happy with artfol as an app an community and I donβt see anything bad about this place at all
:D

β’And why would you want to have 500 likes and many followers when you neither want to interact with them or get any comments....
If we are real the likes are just tabs on a screen that don't show you if someone sincerely likes your stuff or what they think about it

- TRASHY OUT!
lol

For real
I find so many of those posts from time to time, then you look at the account and they haven't reblogged a single thing the whole time. They just come, post their art and go, and follow almost no one. You have to interact with others, damn!! Again, if they're not up for that much effort, I get it, not everyone wants to, but you can't expect one thing without the other.
