The other day I saw a beautiful, illustrated copy of the Odyssey in the window of a local bookshop and was determined to go buy it as soon as the store opened. Today I went in, and when I finally held it in my hands I opened it, only to discover..... a book full of AI slop. Literally all of the so-called "illustrations" were AI. I didn't want to believe it at first, but the thick black outlines combined with super soft shading immediately made me suspicious, and the more I looked the more obvious it was. I'm appalled. This guy has the audacity to call himself an "artist." It seems like he's "illustrating" every book in this publisher's mythology series. I looked at the other ones and I might not have noticed it in any of the other books, but it was so blatantly obvious in this one. I'm kind of glad it was, because otherwise I probably would have bought this crap.Mar 18, 2025

And it's probably not even like the publisher or author wanted a cheaper alternative than paying an artist to draw stuff for the book, because there's still a guy credited as "illustrator" who was probably paid for this??
