DisgustAnother one of my portfolio pieces! This is honestly one of my top favorites. I tried out a different coloring style from the other pieces and immediately fell in love with it. I haven’t used it much since, but I am excited to do more with it if I have a chance to do so in the future

Recently I’ve been omitting my usual in-depth explanations from the pieces, but I wanted to expand on this one a little more since it means a lot to me. Each piece is a depiction of the way that i experience certain emotions, and for disgust I experience it most prominently in the realm of self consciousness. Although I’ve learned to be confident in my body, I still have a hard time accepting the rest of myself. To me, the cracks in the girl represent that feeling of self hatred rooted in what’s inside of me, rather than necessarily on the outside. Due to this type of disgust I tend to have the urge to rip myself apart, which is what I based the pose off of

i'll give u my interpretation as it relates to my experience.
i've changed a lot about my outward image in the past 3 years -- 3 yrs ago i was the one dissing people for caring too much about their appearance, and now i've become one of them lol
i'm confident in this image that i've created, but it feels like i've just gotten really good at acting like im confident in myself. i like the girl's pose/gaze-- like she's looking down upon herself, in disgust both as an outsider and insider. i also like the part you said about the cracks, like she's trying to keep a part of herself hidden + separate from the rest, but it consumes her anyway and she knows that it's futile to even try.
