Mesozoic March 3 | SpinosaurusThe dino the myth the legend, Spinosaurus Mirabilis!! Love these heron fellas so much :>

The history behind the Spinosaurus genus being discovered, then lost, and all of its iterations is so fascinating to me. To me it’s one of the most interesting examples into how lucky we are to be able to find and describe all of these animals lost to time, and all the hard work and study that so many scientists do to bring them into the light- I’m so thankful as a nature lover to know anything at all about these super cool creatures, and they’re to thank for it <3

I usually give my spinosaurus drawings the same coloring as Fiona DinoSquad (iykyk) (i need to draw all of them tbh) but I was inspired loads by the color pallete of the university of chicago’s drawings of mirabilis, so I took plenty of inspiration from that

I did really struggle on the sail and crest colors though… do you like the ones I ended up with?

[ID: Digital illustration of Spinosaurus Mirabilis floating over a blue rectangle on a light blue background. It faces right, its head bowed and jaws open. Its chest is slightly at 3/4 view, while its hindquarters twist back to be in profile. Its tail is unnaturally gathered underneath it. Its front claws sit in front of it below its head, while one back leg is raised and the other lowered. In the bottom right corner is a watermark reading: “LEAVES AND INKS” /end ID]
