Mesozoic March 1 | TanystropheusSay hello to our first mesozoic friend, Tanystropheus!

Tanystropheus is a Triassic reptile known as an archosauromorph. It’s very well described animal, with numerous fossils found, including a near complete skeleton. There are three discovered species of Tanystropheus, including Conspicuus, Longobardicus, and Hydroides, who this fella was mostly based off of :)

Some members of this genus could reach lengths of 20 feet!

Struggled with keeping contrast in the eyes on this fella, but i think I got there in the end lol. In hindsight i also should’ve made its neck quite a bit longer, this is wayyyy too proportional compared to the actual animal. But I’m definitely treating this challenge as a learning experience!

[ID: Digital Illustration of a tanystropheus floating over a purple to blue gradient rectangle on an off white background. Tanystropheus is a long-necked triassic reptile, with short, splayed legs and a disproportionately long neck. The drawing is stylized, putting bends in the longer extremities. Its head faces left, its body gathered beneath it to form a reverse C shape. In the bottom right corner is a watermark reading: “LEAVES AND INKS”. /end ID]
