Insert “I am an Amateur Dino drawer and not a paleontologist just trying my best with some creative liberties” here

I’m sorryyyyyyy Jurassic period I should have done more planning but whatever is left of my time management skills has been dino-napped by path of titans…. (which i used my dilo skin as some inspiration for this fella, that and Deadsound’s Hunted by Moonlight short) (they are a FANTASTIC animator hightl recommended)

If you’re not overly familar with Dilophosaurus, they’re an early jurassic dino found in Arizona. It wasn’t until more specimens were found until we learned about their head crests. You man recognize this fella from the Jurassic Park movie. it is very unlikely they had frills, or spit venom, and they also measured over 20 feet from head to tail. If you know this fella from the Jurassic Park book however. Yeah…. Yeah.

I went back and forth on whether I wanted to give Dilophosaurus any fluff or not. There was a butt print fossil found in Massachusetts of a close relative called Eubrontes, that has no discovered surviving bones but lots of surviving footprints in New England, that was originally thought to show feather structures, but later I read somewhere that they were more likely to just be wrinkles in the mud. That being said, I also saw theory that it’s possible that dinosaurs always started with feathers, and de-evolved them in certain species, and between that and enjoying drawing fuzzy, I figured why not lol. I made the tail even more fluffy with some more pink because I imagined it could also be used in a mating display.

I may try and get at least one more jurassic dino out before i move to the cretaceous, but we’ll see 😅

[ID: Digital illustration of a dilophosaurus floating over a magenta rectangle on a cool-toned, off white background. It has an overall blue toned body with bright pink crest, and some pink feathers on the tail. It faces left, head bowed and neck making a curve. all of its limbs are in front of it, one arm and one leg raised while the other is more tucked towards its side. its tail bends unnaturally in front of it. In the bottom left corner is a watermark reading: “LEAVES AND INKS” /end ID]
