Art Trade of Cheshie and Trixie[These characters are not mine, they belong to gooberist on toyhouse and artfight!]

This was a lot! I was so inspired that I ended up knocking out this piece in two days. There was an offer for an art trade on the art fight discord and I took a look at their ocs and there were a few that I really, really liked. I just wanted to draw them so bad! And the person who created the ocs had an amazing art quality! I was just so inspired and ready to draw.

The hardest part of this really was the pose. Since it's someone elses ocs, there's always the worry that you aren't going to accurately portray their character, especially when it's two characters interacting. There's a dynamic you need to portray and a balance that needs to be made.

From context I got from their creator, they are sort of like mischievous siblings. Trixie, the one in the back, is Cheshie's assistant. I personally saw inspiration from the Cheshire cat, Undertaker from Black Butler, maybe Professor Stein from Soul Eater. I'm sure there are far more that I haven't noticed. That's one of those things that is really interesting to look into and explore. Some of these inspirations might not even be conscious, and I love it!

So for the pose I explored through pinterest for 'best friend poses' or 'sibling poses.' And of course, a lot of them seemed to be more like couple poses rather than siblings. And there was also that trickster aspect I also wanted to draw on. I found a pose of a person reaching out to the camera from above and I thought I could do something with that.

I went from there. I used the clip studio paint pose models to experiment with any possible poses without having to worry about wasting effort on my end of drawing and redrawing poses. Artists always use references and I will never turn down that help.

When I settled on something I liked, I messed around with camera perspective as well. Then, referencing from the model, I started drawing. Factoring in gravity was also kind of hard. You don't necessarily think about it, but it effects a lot of the things that give a piece movement. And since we are constantly affected by gravity, it's hard to miss when it's not right.

Anyways, I hope you like this piece. I really like this piece! I'm really proud of it!
