8. Bubota«Bubotas are ghosts that dwell Valencia and the Balear Islands, although in the islands there’s also the Black Bubota, more dangerous than regular bubotas.
These ghosts are covered on old fabric and look like black humanoid silhouettes, but almost transparent. They haunt cemeteries and paths, where they’re invisible until they decide to scare passerbys. When they do appear, they float in the air and leave behind shreds of themselves, causing terror with just their presence.
In Valencia there are different kinds of bubotas depending on what they haunt, cemetery bubotas being the worst of them, but they can also appear on houses, villas and paths. Some stories also talk about smuggler bubotas, but it’s very likely that they were just people that dressed up to commit crimes so if they got caught by someone, they’d get scared and not ask any questions.»
