Does anyone feel like reading an infodump? Because I feel like infodumping about my story– mainly about my characters and flower language!!
This will probably be long so I'm just gonna separate it a bit so people that don't feel like reading can just ignore it lol
Okey so!!! I've talked about how in my soulmate AU, soulmates are represented with flower marks right? Well because I don't know enough flowers to not get repetitive (and I could include some fun
symbolism) I decided to use flower language to assign a flower to each character! And I found a really cool website that makes that SO easy I love it (it's in spanish, but if anyone is interested I can share the link!), so I went with it :D and I felt like sharing the flowers of the characters I already have and explain why they have that flower, so here it's the infodump akhdfkg (neither of the MCs has a soulmate, so they aren't included here)
Alyssa (she/they, the MC's younger sibling) has a forking larkspur, that means "open heart". She's very liberal about soulmates and always supported her sibling even when they found out they didn't have a soulmate, so I do think she has an open heart. Also– in spanish it's called knight's spur and I think that's a very cool name lol
Fabiola (she/her) has a forgetmenot, that represents sincere love, friendship and memories. She's a hopeless romantic and that's exactly the vibes I get from this flower lol, plus she has a very important role on the main conflict, that involves both friendship and unrequited love.
Miguel (he/him) has a multicolor tulip, that according to the website I use, literally means "I dream with a crazy and extravagant love" and that just suits him so much LMAO Miguel is a very energetic and unconventional person, he's a fun character
His parents have a red carnation, because I though carnations suited them and bc they represent love and admiration, and I really like this characters lol
Aisha (she/her, one of Miguel's friends) has a calla lily, that represents beauty and pride. And if I had to describe Aisha, I would probably use both those words lol
Noor (she/he, another friend) has an edelweiss. I actually had a horrible time finding a flower for him lol, but edelweiss represent courage and nobility and that's kind of her vibes. She sure has a strong presence
The fourth friend doesn't have a name or design yet but he sure has a flower! It's a powderpuff, that I chose both bc it grows in Colombia (like his mom) and because it represents happiness, which is the vibe I want to have with this character. He's literally a ray of sunshine and I love him <#
The MC's parents have a dog rose, that represents both joy and pain (depends on the context). I chose it because while they try to be good parents and love and care a lot about their children, they also hurt them when trying to do the best for them. So, you know. Joy and pain. It suits them so much aldjfkkg
Marta (she/her) is the character with two soulmates! She has a sunflower, because she has such good vibes I love her, and a hybiscus, that means delicate beauty. Honestly idk why I picked this one?? I just felt like she'd vibe with hybiscus I guess

→Cecil's ex has a pot marigold, that represents passion and creativity but also cruelty, sadness and jelousy. I won't talk much about him bc most of Cecil's backstory is spoilers, but I think you can imagine that they didn't have the best break up ever lmao (and I always imagined pot marigolds purple for some reason?? They're ORANGE)
→Another guy from Cecil's past literally has a foxglove as a soulmate flower LMAO, I was watching a video that mentioned that this flower is SUPER poisonous and I just had to give it to him because he's an asshole
→Most of the teachers are based on my teachers from bachillerato akdjfkfk most of their flowers are a reflection of that and are mainly inner jokes lol
→Still: the spanish teacher has an eguzkilore ("flower of the sun", he's basque and this is Basque Country's most characteristic flower), the theatre teacher has a meadowsweet (that literally means useless, you can tell she isn't gonna be a good teacher akjdfkgk she literally represents amatonormativity–), the art history teacher has a violet (means simplicity and sympathy, she's a simple woman but me and my friends love her very much), and the image and sound teacher has an elderberry flower (meaninghelp, he was the most boring teacher I've ever had)
→The history teacher has no visible flower, so no one knows if she actually has one. This is because I wanted her to be another reliable adult for Archer, being someone they can relate to and trust. Making it unknown if she actually has a soulmate or not makes her feel way closer to them, as they have no soulmate at all
